Hes a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Cross a Toy poodle. Poodles tend to bark..but its getting to a point he cant play in the garden without being quite at all. Now i go in the garden with him on the lead.
I have tried using a water pistol behind him, using sudden sound to get his attention and say NO. Plus I don't want a spray collar as i see it as a quick fix and i rather train him for not barking and its cheaper. Nothing works, he's 7 months now. New tips would be very helpful. Thanks
Perhaps teach him how to "speak" on command and then introduce the command "quiet". My mother did this with her lab and to everyone's surprised it worked! Or perhaps "claim" the garden as yours so he won't feel the need to guard it from whatever it is that's setting him off. If you can "claim" your front door to prevent barking, I see no reason why this wouldn't work with a garden as well. Good luck!
