Dog Training Starts With Trust
Dog Training is as much your responsibility as feeding your dog. They require food and they require guidance.
There are many different ideas about Dog Training. Some feel it is just teaching them tricks. However, it is far more important than that.
When we get a dog we set the pattern for the Dog Training. We allow the dog to start on the right foot or the wrong foot. An important thing to remember is that dogs will rule you if you will allow them. They accept the role of master in many ways. Dogs will attempt to enter the house before you step in if you will allow them. That shows the leader of the Pack. Dog Training requires that you do everything in a humane manner.
As soon as a dog has been abused it needs to have extra care taken to retrain it. It has lost a sense of trust in humans and it must gain that trust back. We had a Boston Terrier that we got at about a year old. It was very good with us. We had been told it was abused. He never showed to many signs but he was very protective of any children. He never bit anyone but, I am sure he would have if he felt a child was being hurt. He showed signs of this a couple times when we had children in his presence..
Notice how a dog will adopt a cat for a friend. We believe the cat is the enemy of the dog, but if a dog is around a cat he will develop a relationship with them because dogs do require companionship. They just naturally need someone or something in their circle.
Taking the time to bond with your dog will allow them to trust you. Dog Training will happen so much more quicker when you have developed that trust. Always allow your dog to see your hands before you pet them. Never hit a dog as once you have done that you are back to square one with trust. Rewarding dogs for good behavior will always be the method of training that will work best.
Dog training starts the day you welcome the dog into your family. If you allow a puppy to do something you will have a hard time training them that yesterday they could sit on the couch and today they can’t. If you have your dog trained you can have a much better relationship with them.
